Ask me anything

Didn’t truly know what “non-confrontational” meant or looked like until today.

The meaning of today is immensely great. Jesus is alive 🙌 We have been redeemed.

Happy Easter.

The Flowers Allie Gave Me

I’m not sure what kind of flowers they are to be honest. It doesn’t matter though because they’re the prettiest. She gave them to me 6 days ago and they’re still healthy and growing! The moment I saw them, I knew I wanted to preserve them as best I could. The day before I had thrown out dried out flowers that I kept in my room as decoration. If you know me, you will know

that I love flowers.

Upon getting them, I clipped the bottoms of each stem and placed half of the bouquet in an oil dispenser and the other half in an empty moscato wine bottle (thanks Eden<3) (I’ve used a Pringles can as a makeshift vase in the past. It’s called innovation). These flowers have been on my window sill, greeting me when I wake up, walk into the room, or look out the window.

To maintain the flowers alive, I’ve been looking after them carefullyclipping the stems every other day or two (this helps the flowers grow), ‘misting’ them with water, changing their water, rotating their exposure to the sun, maintaining a flower friendly temperature..

It’s exciting to see what they look like every day; different & new. A bunch of the stems are shooting up to the sky, with it’s flowers sturdy, facing upwards, confident, like they only way they’re going is UP. There’s new buds that have blossomed, and more to still come are popping up out of nowhere quickly… It surprises me is that while there’s other flowers that are wilting, the individual flowers themselves have not died….rather, it seems as though these flowers are having a tough time supporting their own weight.. So I added some supports for themI built two poles (one is a water bottle with a box of girl scout cookies balanced ontop of it, the other has a vitamin bottle as a base, a half empty water bottle on top, and a tub of Hershey’s coca mix placed ontop of the bottle at it’s center of gravity). Inventive you say? I love remembering that God is…. (he’s also holy, btw…multiplying His awesomeness infinitely). He uses these kinda out of place things for a greater purpose. Who would’ve thought… :)

As much as I’ve clipped and maintained these flowers…. I’ve realized that I’ve needed to give them room to grow. They’re doing it, and I’m here to pour in the care and love into them…. but I’m not clipping the stems 3 times a day! In actuality… clipping them so much will stunt their growth….

Here’s another thought…. I googled all kinds of ways to care for store bought flowers….. one thing I read was that clipping the stems are best done while they’re submerged in water—it keeps from allowing extra air entering into the pores. I couldn’t help but think of how Jesus is the living water. My mind is running with all the parallels God has been showing me through these flowers and the art of caring for them.

Allie, thank you for the flowers… :)

They’re still growing… and I get to witness them! So much beauty

That’s plain enough, isn’t it? You’re no longer wandering exiles. This kingdom of faith is now your home country. You’re no longer strangers or outsiders. You belong here, with as much right to the name Christian as anyone. God is building a home. He’s using us all—irrespective of how we got here—in what he is building. He used the apostles and prophets for the foundation. Now he’s using you, fitting you in brick by brick, stone by stone, with Christ Jesus as the cornerstone that holds all the parts together. We see it taking shape day after day—a holy temple built by God, all of us built into it, a temple in which God is quite at home.
